Valerij Gaina

Valerij Gaina, leader and founder of the famous band Cruise, is a legend of Russian rock band history. Not only is he an iconic guitar player, he is also a world renowned composer, producer and writer.

Valerij uses HERCULES guitar stands GS402B and GS422B. He says, “Hercules stands are best in the world. Throughout my career I have never seen more reliable and handier guitar stands.”

In 1981 Valerij established the band Cruise. During the next two years their albums were hits and in 1983 they performed concerts all over the country. Time and again Cruise elated their fans with their consummate playing and poetic depth of the songs.

In 1985 the group underwent a great transformation and became a trio with Valerij on guitar and vocals, Feodor Vasiliev on bass guitar and Sergei Efimov on drums. Cruise was renowned for their professionalism, artistry and superb laser show. In 1987, the album "Cruise-1" was released and sold 12 million copies which was very rare in the 80s.

In 1988 Cruise signed a contract with the German company WEA, and went to Germany to record a new album "Kruiz-WEA". To promote their new CD, Cruise toured Europe. The group gained popularity across the continent as audience members were delighted with their professionalism, unique sound and original show. One year later at the Moscow Sports Palace, Cruise gave their last concert as a trio.

In 2004 Valerij created a new project, GAiNA, and began to record a CD in Russian. In 2006 the CD, called “Snova tvoj", was finished and released on the "Master Consultant" label. The style of new album reflects Valerij's modern music ideology. In this alternative rock album the guitar remains vigorous and recognizable and the music is still melodic and comprehensible. The "Snova tvoj" CD is a tribute to fans who believed in Valerij’s return. At the end of 2007 Valerij and the CD Maximum company signed an agreement about re-issues of “Cruise-1”, "Kruiz-WEA", and “Snova tvoj".
