Tung, Shuen-Wen

April 2009

CONGRATULATIONS to Tung, Shuen-Wen for being awarded "Best Composer" at the prestigious 20th Golden Melody Awards in Taiwan!

Tung, Shuen-Wen is a member of the National Theater Concert Hall (NTCH) Jazz Council, JEG Jazz Band saxophonist and artist of TFWave. He has also toured personally three times and published his first album, One Day! in 2008.

Tung, Shuen-Wen uses Hercules music stand BS411B, sax stand DS532B, clarinet stand DS640B, saxophone stand DS538B, TravLite alto sax stand DS431B, TravLite tenor sax stand DS432B and music stand bag BSB001.

He says, “The first time I used Hercules instrument and orchestra stands I was impressed by their high quality standards and thought that their products are really worth purchasing. Take their saxophone stand, for example. The squared tube is solid and strong and with the low center of gravity it is much more stable than other traditional stands. Besides, it is much smaller when packed! My favorite stand is the DS538 saxophone stand with the all-in-one design. It can work with alto sax, soprano sax, tenor sax, flute and clarinet! I used to bring several stands for different instruments to a gig and now all I need is a Hercules! And it is more stable than any of my previous stands. Cool!“

From the very first time Tung, Shuen-Wen encountered Jazz at the age of 15, he was deeply attracted to the beautiful rhythm. Although he barely understood the melody or theory of Jazz, he joined a brass band in senior high school. With a passion for Jazz, he started lessons in music theory and also started learning how to play saxophone. At the age of 18, he performed in pubs and live restaurants and these experiences inspired within him a joy for performing on stage!

Wanting to improve his saxophone playing, Tung, Shuen-Wen applied for and was awarded a scholarship to the Berklee College of Music in America. During his studies, he realized the profundity and difficulty of Jazz music and the joy of live performance. In 2000, he returned to Taiwan and dedicated himself to spreading his love of saxophone music and Jazz.
